Connor McCann volunteered to travel to the tiny rural village of Mika,
Tanzania this summer with a small group of Episcopal Academy students and teachers on a community outreach project.
Connor spent two weeks helping the children there, many of whom are orphaned as a result of the AIDS problem that has existed there for years.
He taught English to the Swahili-speaking children, delivered soccer balls and clothing, of course played with them, and in general let them know that people in America care for them.
Episcopal has an ongoing associaton with the Mika Foundation (www.mikafoundation.org), which has enabled the school to remain open and generally strives to improve the quality of life there.

[October 2006 - Duke's Open Tryouts] 2006 Fall/Winter and 2007 Summer schedules posted
Open try out: Sunday, October 22nd @ 1:00 PM at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park was an overwhelming success.
Duke's early tryout results have been posted. A final update will appear in early November.
[August 2nd, 2006 - Duke's blueprint for Champ Camp Championship]
Appearing in the Championship Game for the 3rd straight year of the Biggest National Tournament in America, Champ Camp; we got over the hump and brought Home the BIG Prize to Pennsylvania.
The Champ Camp Website @ Champ Camp says it all!!!
We beat BELAX in the Championship 5-4 in a tight, tough game.
This was a Sweeeet Win for our Program and serves to confirm that we are doing a lot of things right, but still need to do a lot of things better.
I'd like to thank the Coaches for doing a Great Job:
Mike Mackrides running the Box and Offense, Jason Christmas doing the Defense and Ron Forster doing the Offense. Your only as good a Coach as the Coaches you surround yourself with so I'm deeply grateful for their Help and their Friendship.
As a Team we were Lightning in a bottle playing with an Edge and Focus.
We went 9-0 capturing the Championship and you can see the game by game Scores with our 2006 Duke's Lacrosse Club Champ Camp Roster.
We averaged 10 Goals per Game while only allowing 3 Goals per game and the Championship was our closest Score.
Player wise, it would be impossible to select an MVP but some highlighted players should be:
The one-two Offensive Scoring Punch of Jack Forster and Kyle Wharton who were devastating
The Goalkeeping of Tim Kemena was spectacular especially in the Championship Game
The Absolute Clinic at Faceoff all Weekend by Matt Dolente
The Defense of Eric Muller was equally Spectacular
Dean Bellos got a chance to Step in and was a Major Contributor on Offense - Scoring the Winning goal in the Championship off a Feed from Colton Vosburgh.
The steady All over the Field play of Justin Blye, Eddie Bambino & Colton Vosburgh. The Big Goals/Money Goals of Tom Hueber.
The Steady Offense of Alex Garrity & John DuBois.
Close Defense from Greg Harrington & Matt Baker stood out and the Long Stick/switch to D-middie Short Stick with attitude by Eric DiProspero was a tone setter for us as a team.
In short, EVERYONE Contributed and as one player stated, there were no weak links. EVERYONE could handle and Run the Field.
We are going to take some much needed time off and will be updating the Fall Tournament Schedule, helping players follow up with College Coaches as the Calls and e-mails have been pouring in.
We will be holding a Tryout for ALL Incoming 9th Graders sometime in the Fall and that Date, time & Location will be advertised.
Enjoy the rest of your Summer and know we are Champions !!!
