Downingtown East head coach Tom Slate was also one of the Duke's first players. Tom Slate becomes the first person in Pennsylvania history to win a state championship as a head coach and player (Springfield 1992 and MVP).
Downingtown East defeated Mount Lebanon 5-3.

Hempfield defeated Upper Saint Clair, 9-3, to reach the state finals, while Haverford School defeated LaSalle 15-9 to advance.
Haverford defeated Hempfield 19-9 in the final.

Dixon Hargrove @ Strath Haven was one of two Pennsylvania players honored as Academic High School All American.
Salisbury won their second straight national championship defeating Nazareth 13-9.
Duke's alumni Jeff Bigas ('01) was a major contributor on defense and team captain. Jeff was joined by fellow Duke's alum Mike Liquori ('02), Brendan Dawson ('00), Matt Hittinger ('03), Chris Sweirzek ('01) and Erik Bishop ('03).
The 2005 Sea Gulls will have an even larger Duke's presence as Jeff is joined by Bill Derrek ('02), Mike Lennon ('04), Sean Logue ('04) and Ryan Phillips ('04).
Tom Slate named the first Lacrosse Head Coach at Downingtown East High School.
Rick and Denis Whelan played a D-1 lax game against each other on March 20th, 2004 as UMass faced Brown - Brother vs brother,
Dukes lax vs Dukes lax. Rick Whelan, graduated from Episcopal Academy in 2000 and is a senior, playing (#2 [Profile]) for Brown Unversity.
Denis Whelan, graduated from Penn Charter in 2003 and is a freshman playing lax (#20 [Profile]) at UMass-Amherst.
Being the proud mother of two accomplished sons, Mrs. Whelan shared "It was great to see both Ricky and Denis at the same field, at the same time, but it was hard to know who to root for!".
Brown won the game 10-5.
